Stage 3 Team Building
A T20 fantasy team has 11 players drawn from a 100 credit budget. The captain and vice-captain selections matter more than every other choice.
| Role | Min | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Wicketkeeper | 1 | 4 |
| Batter | 3 | 6 |
| All-rounder | 1 | 4 |
| Bowler | 3 | 6 |
| From one real team | - | 7 |
In T20 specifically, consider batting depth - most teams face 6+ overs per batter, so picking too many bowlers can starve your points.
Stage 4 Contests

The 100-credit budget is the most misunderstood part of T20 fantasy team selection. Players are priced based on recent form and reputation - a top-order batter like Yashasvi Jaiswal costs 11 credits, a death-over specialist like Matheesha Pathirana costs 10 credits, and a wicketkeeper who bats at 6 like Ishan Kishan costs 9 credits. To build a balanced XI within budget, most successful players follow the 4-3-4 pattern: 4 batters, 1 wicketkeeper who can bat, 3 all-rounders, 3 bowlers. This gives batting depth plus three bowling options who can take wickets. The captain and vice-captain must be from the batting lineup - captaining a tail-end bowler in a T20 is risky because they often don't face enough deliveries.
Once your team is locked, the actual fantasy play begins. Live points update every ball - a boundary earns 4 points plus the batter's run total, a wicket earns 25 points for the bowler plus 8 for the catcher (and 12 for stumping). Captain multiplier means your captain's every point is doubled. So if your captain gets 50 runs and takes 1 catch, those 50 runs become 100 points and the catch becomes 16 points - a massive swing in a tight contest. The difference between finishing 1st and 10th often comes down to captain choice, which is why we built the captain analytics engine to suggest picks based on matchup, venue, and recent form.

T20 Fantasy 101
Pick 11, pick captain, lock your team — full walkthrough
T20 fantasy works like this: every real match has a fantasy mirror. You pick 11 players from the two squads combined within a 100-credit salary cap. Pick a captain (2x) and vice-captain (1.5x) before lock time. Join one or more contests — entry fees range from ₹3 practice to ₹5,000 mega. Watch the match live and your points update ball-by-ball. If your total ranks top in the contest, you win cash. New players usually win their first contest within 10-15 entries once they understand matchup scoring.
The 11-player selection puzzle
Pick 1 wicket-keeper, 3-6 batters, 1-4 all-rounders, 3-6 bowlers from the combined squad of ~22 players. Top-order batters who bat in powerplay score consistently — most winning teams draft 4-5 top-order batters. All-rounders are gold: one player fills two roles and saves you salary cap. We track the average captain winner profile: 4 batters, 2 keepers/wk-batts, 3 all-rounders, 2 bowlers.
Salary cap strategy
Top stars cost 10-11 credits (Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma tier). Build around 2-3 premium picks and fill the rest with 7-8 credit middle-tier performers. Differential calls (4-5 credit uncapped players) can win mega contests but expect bust rate of 75% — pay off when they fire. Practice contests are perfect for testing differential strategies risk-free.
Captain, vice-captain, and the multiplier trick
Captain earns 2x points — every run, wicket, catch, and bonus counts double. Vice-captain earns 1.5x. The optimal strategy: pick your highest-ceiling player as captain (boom-bust differential) and your highest-floor player as vice-captain (steady opener or consistent bowler). This gives you both upside and insurance in the same team.
Contest types and what to expect
Practice contests (free): play 100+ teams per match, top 30% win free entry tickets. Head-to-head (₹10-₹10,000): 1v1 against one opponent, winner takes 90%. Small-field (2-10 players): higher win rate, lower payout. Mega contest (10,000+ entries): the big prize if you finish top 0.5%. Beginner strategy: H2H and small-field. Intermediate: combine H2H with mega entries.
