Coverage

Press and Media

Economic Times (2024)

"Bengaluru-based T20Sports Fantasy raises $14M Series A to expand T20-specific fantasy coverage across South Asia."

TechCrunch India (2025)

"In a multi-sport-dominated fantasy market, T20Sports picked the contrarian bet on T20-only - and won."

SportsMint (2026)

The three founders met at a Bengaluru cricket league in 2022. Anirudh had just left his product role at Dream11, frustrated that fantasy platforms were over-diversifying and under-serving T20-specific players. Vikram had shipped the live score engine at Flipkart and wanted to apply the same broadcast-grade quality to sports data. Karthik had scaled Paytm operations through hyper-growth and wanted a similar challenge. Together they identified a structural gap: every fantasy platform was adding more sports, diluting the T20 experience - none were deepening the T20 focus.

The Series A funding in March 2024 was led by Ankur Capital, with participation from 3one4 Capital and a clutch of strategic angel investors including former cricketers. The capital was used primarily to scale the engineering team, build the iOS app, and expand internationally to support cricket T20 leagues outside India (BBL, SA20, CPL, T20 Blast, BPL). Future plans include Series B in 2027 to fund white-label licensing to other sports and the launch of T20Sports Fantasy in 3 additional countries. The leadership team remains operationally involved in product decisions and customer escalations, reflecting their hands-on approach to platform quality.

The people behind the platform

Founders in their own words

The three founders met at a Bengaluru cricket league in 2022. Anirudh had just left his product role at Dream11, frustrated that fantasy platforms were over-diversifying and under-serving T20-specific players. Vikram had shipped the live score engine at Flipkart and wanted to apply the same broadcast-grade quality to sports data. Karthik had scaled Paytm operations through hyper-growth and wanted a similar challenge. Together they identified a structural gap: every fantasy platform was adding more sports, diluting the T20 experience - none were deepening the T20 focus.

Anirudh Mehta (CEO) leads product, partnerships, and policy. He joined Dream11 as a junior product manager in 2018 and rose to senior PM by 2022. During his four-year tenure he shipped IPL, BBL, and CPL products, but his proudest moments were captain analytics experiments where the consensus captain underperformed and the differential captain hit a century. He founded T20Sports Authority in March 2023 with two co-founders and a clear thesis: T20 deserves a fantasy platform of its own.

Vikram Subramanian (CTO) built the live scoring engine and captain analytics platform, owns the broadcast-grade tech stack. An IISc Bangalore alumnus, he spent five years at Flipkart building the live commerce scoring engine that handled 2M concurrent users during Big Billion Days. He applied that same engineering discipline to fantasy cricket scoring - the platform now handles 800ms ball-by-ball updates across 38,400+ historical matches without breaking a sweat. He personally reviews every infrastructure incident postmortem.

Karthik Rao (COO) runs customer support, payments, and KYC operations. An ISB Hyderabad MBA, he spent six years at Paytm scaling operations through hyper-growth - the wallet, the merchant base, the customer service layer. He manages the 184-person team across 3 shifts and personally reviews every Tier-3 customer escalation. His fingerprint is on every KYC workflow shipped since 2023.

The Series A funding in March 2024 was led by Ankur Capital, with participation from 3one4 Capital and a clutch of strategic angel investors including former cricketers. The capital was used primarily to scale the engineering team, build the iOS app, and expand internationally to support cricket T20 leagues outside India.
