The T20Sports Fantasy live tracker is built on a real-time event stream that ingests ball-by-ball data from our scoring partner. Every ball arrives within 800ms of being bowled in the stadium. Your team points are calculated and stored within 200ms after that. So when you see a boundary on TV, you can see your fantasy score update almost simultaneously on the app. The leaderboard refresh rate is 5 seconds, meaning your rank updates every 5 seconds as other teams also respond to new balls.
For popular matches, we recommend joining contests at least 30 minutes before toss. Most mega contests and all guaranteed-prize-pool contests will fill before match start. Powerplay contests stay open until 4 minutes before first ball, so you can scout lineup announcements before deciding. Once the team is locked (4 minutes before first ball), no edits are allowed. The Impact Player substitution window stays open until the official IPL/T20 protocol - typically after the 14th over in IPL. In BBL, SA20, and CPL, the impact player rule applies at the 13th over.
The watch-from-app experience combines live scores, ball-by-ball commentary, and your fantasy team progress in a single unified feed. You can see your captain's run total increment in real time, watch your bowler's wickets rack up, and see your total points climb toward the leaderboard position you care about. Push notifications fire on captain milestones (fifty, hundred, 5-wicket haul), contest deadlines (3 minutes before lock), and winning thresholds (when you cross into the prize pool). All notifications are user-configurable.
For multi-match days where IPL, BBL, and SA20 overlap, you can pin up to 4 fixtures to the home dashboard and watch them all simultaneously. Each pinned fixture shows a compact score strip with current run rate, wickets in hand, and your active team points. Tap to expand into full detail mode. The home dashboard retains pinned fixtures across sessions, so your Saturday match list is the same whether you open the app Saturday morning or Saturday evening. The platform supports up to 200 concurrent live users per match without any performance degradation.

Live scoring mechanics verified
Each ball is parsed through the official broadcaster feed (CricketData API plus stadium-level WebSocket pipeline). Runs, wickets, catches, stumpings, run-outs, milestone bonuses (50 = +4, 100 = +8) all flow into the points engine at sub-second latency. Wides, no-balls, and economy bonuses (under 6 RPO = +2, under 4 RPO = +4) feed back within one over of being bowled. Median latency Q1 2026: 1.18 seconds from physical delivery to fantasy point update.
Powerplay-only contests
Powerplay contests score only the first 6 overs. Captain pick strategy inverts — spinners and middle-over bowlers drop in value since they bowl in the middle phase. Openers who consistently score 30+ in PP become the captain pool. We tracked 64 PP contests in Q1 2026; ownership for the top opener ran 22% in large-field and 38% in small-field. Differential calls are scarce — most teams land on the same opener.
In-match substitution rules
The Impact Player sub must be declared at toss and can be activated any time before the 14th over. Our engine flags matches with active Impact Player designation, so you can adjust captain preference if the franchise confirms a death-overs all-rounder comes in for a frontline batter. Once the 14th over is bowled, both teams are locked.
DLS and rain scenarios
DLS-affected matches: scoring is calculated on completed overs; if the second innings is reduced to 5 overs, only those 5 overs count. Abandoned fixtures (no toss or no play possible): entry fees refunded within 9 minutes of official abandonment. We track rain probability for every fixture 48 hours out and notify affected users via push notification and SMS for entries above ₹500.
Pre-Toss Prep
Pull the latest squad update 60 minutes before the toss. Confirm playing XI, watch impact-player designation, lock your selections before the deadline.
In-Match Adjust
Substitutions are locked at toss. After that, only your captain multiplier moves — every run, wicket, and catch updates instantly on the live feed.
Post-Match Review
Check the points statement within 9 minutes of the final ball. Disputes must be raised within 24 hours through customer care with the match-ID reference.
Powerplay-Only Contests
When the first 6 overs matter more than the rest
Powerplay-only contests score only the first 6 overs of a T20 match. Captain selection strategy inverts: spinners and middle-over bowlers drop in value because they bowl in the middle phase. Openers who consistently score 30+ in PP become the captain pool. We tracked 64 PP contests in Q1 2026; ownership for the top opener ran 22% in large-field and 38% in small-field. Differential calls are scarce — most teams land on the same opener because there are only 2 PP batters per team batting simultaneously.
PP scoring mechanics and bonuses
In PP-only scoring: runs count normally (1/run). Boundary bonuses fire within the 36-ball window (4 per four, 6 per six). Milestone bonuses (50/100) only fire if the player reaches them within overs 1-6 — rare. Strike-rate bonuses (>170 SR) and economy bonuses (<5 RPO) are calculated against PP-only stats, so a 50 off 28 in PP earns +6 SR bonus. Bowlers who complete their PP over (3-4 overs depending on format) get full points.
Captain strategy in PP contests
PP captain strategy: pick the opener with the highest PP avg and PP strike rate. We track PP avg separately from full-innings avg — players like Yashasvi Jaiswal (avg 38.4 PP, SR 142 in IPL 2024-25) and Shubman Gill (avg 32.1 PP, SR 138) head the PP captain pool. Avoid captaining bowlers in PP contests because their impact is limited to 1-2 overs.
